About the Chuckle ArtShed
Funded by The National Lottery, The ArtShed project is a unique free, three year training programme specifically designed for young adults with additional needs, created to provide ‘hands on’ life skills & arts training in a fully accessible, inclusive and fun way, with the ultimate aim of helping them find work and gain independence, develop their life skills and increase their self-worth.
Alongside a team of Arts professionals and Special Educational Needs specialists, the young adults attend three days a week, and have access to Art based learning, a mixture of theory-led teaching with workshops, training and work experience opportunities. The young adults have the opportunity to create Arts-based projects that aim to help break down the stigma and barriers that people with additional needs face in the workplace, further raising awareness in the wider community.
With a strong emphasis on ability, not disability, the ArtShed also offers young adults a fantastic opportunity to become part of a team, gain new friendships, explore new avenues and to learn to aspire to achieve their dreams.
