Supporting the little steps that make the big things happen

Arts Linked Up Programme

Arts Linked Up is an early years programme developed by Chuckle Productions in partnership with local schools and nurseries. The project is supported by funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation through their Arts-Based Learning Fund.

The programme uses visual art, music, movement and creative play to support children in developing the core foundations they need to thrive in school. Through creative, arts-based activities, the project focuses on strengthening key areas of early development including communication, attention, social interaction, emotional wellbeing and physical development. These skills are fundamental in helping children feel confident, connected and ready for the next stages of their learning.

Following a successful pilot delivered in three schools, Arts Linked Up has now expanded significantly. The second phase of the programme is currently working with 6 schools and 12 nurseries, reaching many more children, teachers and early years practitioners across the local area.

By embedding creative approaches within everyday learning, Arts Linked Up helps educators build environments where children feel engaged, included and ready to learn.

One Headteacher said of the project “Really excited to see the project and the impact on communication and language, PSED, EAD and physical development (which underpins everything)”

One teacher said “My highlight, is that the project impacted individual children who are more isolated in the classroom, which I’m assuming probably everybody (all classes) has had those issues very early on, but again we saw a massive change throughout the year, you know, for those children to even be just to be in the room with others, to go in the hall was massive, and then for them to take part is just great!”

A full impact report will be ready in Autumn 2026
